Hello, Washington SNAP-Ed Team, and welcome to Federal Fiscal Year 2019!

The 2019 Washington SNAP-Ed Forum will be held in Wenatchee September 24, 25 and 26th.

FFY18 WA SNAP-Ed annual report

The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) Office of Visual Communications will be compiling all of the regional reports into our FFY18 annual report. The goal for this year’s wrap up is multi purposed. Not only do I want to ensure we meet all of the mandated federal reporting requirements, but I also want every one of us to have a tangible product that is pleasing to the eyes and easy to read in supporting future programming.

WA SNAP-Ed Statewide needs assessment

The Public Health Centers for Excellence (Centers for Excellence), a collaboration between Spokane Regional Health District Data Center and Tacoma Pierce County Health Department’s Office of Assessment, Planning and Evaluation, will be conducting a comprehensive statewide needs assessment for the Washington State SNAP-Ed program based on best practice frameworks for needs assessment and program evaluation.

The needs assessment is a top priority for FFY19, and a direct result of the FFY18 Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) management evaluation of our program. The results of the needs assessment will be disseminated to all Implementing Agencies (IAs) and inform programming for the next three year state plan.

FFY19 Statewide WA SNAP-Ed Forum

There are few details to share about our next statewide forum yet, other than 1) it will be in Spokane, and 2) it will be in the fall. I plan to have more details available in early January 2019.

DSHS program reviews and contract monitoring

I hope to see you during the programming year as I conduct SNAP-Ed regional program review and contract monitoring site visits. These reviews will cover program fidelity, fiscal integrity, and contract compliance; interspersed with lots of visits to where you are. I cannot wait to hit the road and see you soon!

Thank you for all you do!
